History

Sawade Curtains and Blinds was started in 1960, working as a workroom by Colin and Rae Sawade. In 1967, they purchased the original Mullers Road premises, opening a retail outlet with the workroom attached. In 1989, building was commenced on a new premises behind the original building. This building was then removed and became car parking. The new building was opened in February 1991. In June 2001, Colin and Rae decided it was time to retire and this building was sold. The business was taken over by son Brian and his partner Anette and moved to its current location on Payneham Road at Glynde.

Soft Furnishings Industry Association of South Australia

Colin was an active member of the Industry Association promoting quality workmanship and ethical practices within the Industry. This role has now been embraced by Anette who is the current President of the Soft Furnishings Industry Association of SA.

We were very proud to have the quality of our work recognised by winning awards in two categories at the annual SFIASA Design Excellence Awards.
